WELCOME FELLOW EV DRIVERS !!!!!

Notes for Changeover to Lifepo4 cells or other batteries
Very special Note for anyone that actually plans on updating in the future to the Lifepo4 cells or any other battery of the future as most all of the batteries that will be coming out will need a few things .. one is they will need temperature protection ... this can be done seperately but wow that would be quite a system to have to put together since the NIMH rangers already have the system called a IOM module ....  and all batteries are specifying to have some air blown across them the NIMH ranger ev is the only one that has a flow through fan that comes on when the temp starts increasing ...... So if you plan on always staying with lead acids (hard to believe you will always be happy with a 30 mile range) then you do not need to do anything but if you plan on changing up in the future I am posting this as the parts to do the changeover are almost all gone ...
If you plan on doing this in the future you need to collect the following parts ...................
(1) XL5z-10B691-AB Low voltage wiring assy.
(1) XL5Z-10B715-AA  IOM module assy.
(1) 2U5Z-54280B62-AA  Grille Assy.-V
(1) XL5Z-10B709-AA   Blower Assy.-C
(1) replacement blower for the flow through blower I have the same style blower motor from the original company I am sure there are other companies that have them that will work, I only use the original stuff if at all possible ...

Ford spent a lot of money and time engineering all this and testing it and I am sure there is better ways but since this stuff was already tested I stay with them for now ....
ODYSSEY 12 volt battery update with NIMH conversion
Installing a Useful Battery Box
Bad Avcon input connector bypassed and made better
Dont like the on board charger ...
The answer is replace it with a Manzanita ...

Motor go bad ?  yeah I had one too .. replacement time
Problems with your TIM ?
.

Is it time for the Rangers to become a 100+ mile to the charge vehicle ? Lets do a LifePo4 battery installation and find out for sure !!!
Do you have a NIMH truck but the case is lead acid? we ended up with one and we need to change it from lead acid to NIMH
I purchased another Ranger EV and am going to do it for myself ... I am looking for that consistent 60+ miles to the charge like the NIMH rangers had only more ecological and with now available batteries for a lot less money !
OK, a little early but the replacement of the NGS tester with a On Board System ..
Want to know how to use the NGS tester ?  some of the ways and the tests are here ...
I am waiting ...   my Lifepo4 cells are late due to the chinese new year so I am going to repair an old pack good enough to get me through until they show up !  This pack has (2) bad modules in the pack !! I will exchange 3 bad modules for (2) - 12 volt trojan modules
Still waiting on my Lifepo4 cells so we have heard about these Sears battteries so time to install a pack of them and see how it is compared to the Odyssey ...

This is a missed item ... in the 2001 workshop manual they missed the NIMH correct wiring there is only the Lead Acid wiring so if you are trying to correct a wiring problem you can not do it ..  I went ahead and made a manual wiring sheet from a brand new cable I bought ...
and here it is ... you will probably have to copy it and then make it bigger to see it but if you need the wiring here it is ....
1998 Ranger EV ....  I have a mixed set now of 100ah and 50ah put together to make 100ah cells ... the 50ah cells are too small and have too much sag to be put in alone ...

Are you looking at a little pump light on the dash ... that red thing is very scary knowing what they say in the manuals !!  well a ranger ev owner has come up with the answer !! an external high quality Holley pump , and he figured out how to tap it all together ......... Need one , Well here you go !
I have 2 to do myself ....
Questions ....  On a direct change from Lead acid rangers to Lifepo4 ?
I have some , how about you ?

Protection is a must ....
a Battery Management System
from Thunderstruck Motors
I have posted my notes so far and will add to them as I learn more about the NIMH cables ..
I have already found not all the wiring is in the manual so I made my own from an original cable
pics of the IOM assy. insides .... way beyond my skills ...
a ranger ev 100ah upgrade with the thunderstruck motors BCM and a few little add ons ..
